Art Laboe dies at 97

His radio career lasted 79 years, from 1943 to 2022. He was the first DJ to play records by black artists and white artists on the same program. He coined the term "oldies but goodies" and released 15 "Oldies But Goodies" albums on his own label, Original Sound Records. Art Laboe died of pneumonia October 7 at his home in Palm Springs.
